Twitter spam
Spam is everywhere! Spam is annoying, but at least it’s not hard to spot. Somehow they think I won’t get suspicious when a cute girl I don’t know starts following my geeky tweets. Yeah right! What they’re trying to do is get me to follow their tweets. What to look for in a spam account: they’re typically new accounts, no more than a few days old some seemingly...

Some rights reserved
Twitter, Facebook, and other “status” sites are transforming the way we receive information. We want it instantly, from sources of our choosing, and we want access to it at any time no matter where we happen to be or what device we happen to be using to access it. One important service has emerged that supports this free flow of information called Creative Commons (CC). It’s...

El Sistema for a better world
Jose Antonio Abreu who founded El Sistema in Venezuela has a very important message for the rest of the world! I hope we can achieve it, especially in places where terrorism is common. Posted via web from Keegan’s Posterous | Comment »

Commercial software I use and love
Yesterday I wrote about open source software I use and love. I wanted to mention there are also some (not as many) free commercial programs I use and love. The source code is private and the companies are looking to profit by convincing users to upgrade to their pro versions (annoying), but I still depend on these programs for what they do (at least until better open source alternatives are...

Open source software I use and love
What is open source? http://bit.ly/WnDyp Where do I find open source software? http://bit.ly/qnkeP This is a list of my favorite open source programs. I’ve found these free programs to be of high quality, reliable, and useful for myself and many of my clients. I love that they are frequently updated and being improved upon: TrueCrypt (encrypted volumes) - http://bit.ly/JCA4Y Inkscape...

Utility Computing
I read about utility computing a couple years ago. I thought to myself that would be the best thing ever, and I can’t wait until that arrives…well it’s here! It’s also called cluster-based or grid computing. Imagine paying for computer performance like electricity measured in Grid Performance Units (GPUs). Use it when you need it. No limitations placed on your application...

Which products are safe?
I’m starting to understand how unprotected we are from harmful ingredients in everyday products. The FDA and other regulatory bodies aren’t doing their job to protect us, so it’s up to us to pick products that aren’t linked to causing cancer or have neurotoxin in them (which I learned my deoderant and cologne have in them)! Here are some useful links I discovered: ...

TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) →
TED has been one of the best discoveries I’ve made on the web this year! Below are my top four favorite talks (I couldn’t pick just three) in no particular order. I’m not going to give any description; you’ll just have to watch them to find out what they’re about: http://bit.ly/18Kflp http://bit.ly/oVj1c http://bit.ly/HvBHS http://bit.ly/DKAyR Posted via email...

Go Blazers!
Rudy is my favorite. I can’t believe his skill. Maybe we should get some more recruits from Europe. I’ve enjoyed watching the home games in HD now that we have our projector system finished. The clarity really helps to see all the action! Posted via email from Keegan’s posterous | Comment »

My first microblog post
This microblog concept is interesting to me. It lets me write a bit more than twitter. I can include links and images, even audio and video. From what I read, I can update from iPhone and can use twitterfeed to cross post to Ping.fm too! Posted via email from Keegan’s posterous | Comment »
